Novus Receives Government of Canada’s FedDev Applied Research and Commercialization Initiative Grant
Michael Chong, Member of Parliament for Wellington-Halton Hills, on behalf of the Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), announced on January 26, 2011 innovative partnerships between the University of Guelph and 14 small- and medium-sized businesses. These partnerships will bring growth and long-term economic benefits to southern Ontario in areas such as: air, water and wastewater monitoring and management; agriculture; health; tourism; and food processing and packaging.
The collaboration between Novus and the University of Guelph will examine the dispersion of pollutants along transportation routes and the impact of these pollutants on human health. This research will lead to the development of more effective pollution controls along transportation routes. By reducing levels of pollution, this technology will lead to benefits for the health of Ontario’s citizens, as well as reduction on the burden of the health care system.
