Don’s career has spanned over 25 years in the environmental field in both the private and not for profit sectors, working successfully with government, industrial and municipal clients. He has had a career focus on water, resolving issues as far ranging as industrial and municipal effluent toxicity, development of novel approaches for treatment of water and wastewater, water conservation and storm-water management. He has also worked extensively on innovative approaches to remediation and renovation of contaminated sites. Don’s work has typically involved developing an integrated approach to problem solving often involving collaborations between industry university/college and government scientists and other professionals. Most recently Don has developed a systems approach to understanding sustainability based on a thermodynamics approach that can be applied to both public and private sectors of the economy. He has participated in a number of committees including the Program Management Committee for the Canadian Water Network, the Advanced Foods and Materials Network and Sustainable Technologies Evaluation Program.
