Dr. Yang earned his Ph.D. in meteorology specializing in numerical weather simulation from Peking University in 1997. He has over 21 years of experience with weather forecast, numerical weather model development, climate change modeling and downscaling, emission inventories processing, and regional smog and photochemical modelling. He was a research scientist at National Research of Canada, University of Waterloo, and Beijing Meteorological College; a scientist at National Research Institute of Earth Science and Disaster Prevention in Japan; and an operational meteorologist at a local city branch of China Meteorological Administration. Dr. Yang is also a published author of numerous papers related to explosive cyclogenesis, heavy rain, regional climate change and monsoon, and algorithm development in meteorological and photochemical modeling.
