Summary

Novus was retained by Datum Engineers Inc. and Page Southerland Page to provide design services for the new 8-story, 240,000 GSF Center for Health Discovery (CHD) facility and 11-story 200,000 GSF Center for Health Transformation (CHT) office building at the University of Texas Dell Medical Campus.

Equipment contemplated during the design include: a high-resolution Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), a 7T full-body investigational MRI, a 7T small-bore MRI, Micro PET/CT, and a Cyclotron.  Upper floors of the facility will include a large vivarium, wet labs and OR spaces.  Functionality of these spaces requires stable vibration environments and freedom from disturbances from electromagnetic and radio frequency fields.

Working closely with the design team and owner, Novus provided consultation on:

  •  Ground-borne vibration control related to perimeter roadways
  • Assessment and control of ground vibrations due to a planned light rail system
  • Control of floor vibrations caused by occupant activity
  • Assessment and control of electromagnetic and radio frequency interference from existing sources at the site and planned building equipment
