Noise Mapping

Novus conducts noise modelling for subdivisions, cities and other large regions with the purpose of establishing existing or future ambient noise levels due to transportation and industrial sources.

Modelling is usually conducted using Cadna/A, an approved noise model in compliance with European Commission Directive 2002/49/EC requirements. Model outputs can be either at discrete noise sensitive receptors, or in the form of noise contours (isopleths of equal noise level). Noise mapping is applied for land use planning/ master planning purpose for new communities, to investigate alternative noise control measures, design layouts, and facade design requirements. For environmental assessments,

Novus can also investigate the health effects of noise. In this case, the number of affected residents in various noise level bands can be estimated and noise levels can be compared against World Health Organization (WHO), EC, and other published health-based criterion.
